Online Blog Directory Submission

Apologies for not posting yesterday and before you ask, yes I was busy at the PC working on this blog conducting online directory submissions.

I spent most of yesterday submitting this To Make Money Online blog and RSS feed to various Blog Directories and RSS Feed Directories. To raise the search engine ranking and Page Rank (PR) of your own site, mine is currently a low PR0, you must obtain good quality incoming inks from other sites with a high PR. Blog directories usually carry a PR4 to PR6 and are a good way to raise the ranking of your site. Also your blog will benefit from users searching that blog directory directly for terms or topics relating to your site so it’s a win, win situation for you.

After researching for the best blog directories to submit to, I eventually worked through the list on Robin Good’s site, which detailed the Best Blog Directory And RSS Submission Sites. An excellent list which gives a summary of each directory, the submission process and most importantly provides exact hyperlinks to ’submit your blog’ to each directory. I did not submit to all those listed, due to obvious time constraints but chose the better ones from personal knowledge or high ranking.

I concentrated on those blog directories that possessed a Google Page Rank of at least PR3 and preferably PR4, PR5 or PR6. Use Google’s Page Rank Tool in your browser to check the directory PR and any blog directory that had a ranking of PR0 was ignored.

I also found a couple of sites that offered a service for automatic inclusion of your blog into say 100 directories but these require a fee. I was not prepared to pay for this service and I also believed that by doing things myself I could make sure the entries would be exactly word perfect and listed in the correct directory category of each directory. So I opted for the individual manual approach.

Most of the directories require you to register with a user name and password, include the blog title, url, description, keywords etc. Make sure you type this information into a word processor or text editor to save time and cut down on repetitive tasks. Some ask for a reciprocal link which should be no problem.
You are also asked to choose the all-important category under which to list your blog. Make sure you take your time to choose the right category or your submission could be quickly rejected.

After submission, inclusion in some blog directories was almost immediate, others sent an email or on-screen response informing you that your blog would be reviewed by human staff before possible inclusion. I think I managed to get listed immediately in about 7 blog directories and have about 15 under review messages.

A somewhat uninteresting and boring submission day will hopefully prove fruitful with increased exposure of this site. I’ll provide feedback on the Blog Directory effect in a later post.
