In the early days of a new blog not many people out there will be aware of you and your site so good promotion techniques are a must.
One of the best free promotion strategies that you can implement is to use Forums and Message Boards to spread the word about your site. Most forums allow you to add a signature to the end of your posts which you can then use to state your all important website url (with possibly an additional piece of text to describe your sites niche). In a bid to keep out spamming websites, some forums require you to go through a trial period of say 10 new posts before allowing you to add a signature.
Also the popular large forums have a high google page rank and so a post in that forum, with your url signature in that post, counts as a inward pointing link from a high PR site.

This can be good for the mind and soul especially for the work from home full time bloggers out there. Additionally the forums are a fantastic place to get answers to questions and queries as there always seems to be someone out there that’s been there, done that and got the T-Shirt.
