Expired domains with backlinks
Searching for expired domains with backlinks can be a very cheap and cost effective way to get a new site up and running and have it quickly indexed by the major search engines. Site owners of high ranking sites with many backlinks and good page rank, who let their domains intentionally lapse and expire or simply forget to renew, allow anyone to then purchase their expired domain and gain instant backlinks, ranking, web history and search engine indexing.
There are many tools and methods available to help you find these expired domains, some of these will cost but there are several that are free and easy to use. The trick is to find these domains just before or just after they are about to expire.
My favourite site is at justdropped.com where they have a free excellent search tool which enables expired and deleted domains to be searched by start word, end word, containing words, including numbers, including hyphens, minimum domain length, maximum domain length etc.
Their search tool will return a list of up to 2000 expired domain names displayed in your browser. Alternately for quicker browsing, the list can be forwarded to your email account almost instanty. Each returned expired domain name has separate hyperlinks to then display related information which includes, whois, ranking and links.
Selecting the whois link will show if anyone has beat you to the register the expired domain.
The ranking link will show the alexa traffic ranking for that domain.
The links link will show the link popularity for that expired domain at the sites of google, MSN, HotBot, AltaVista, Alltheweb and Dmoz.
The expired domains with backlinks are the most sought after prize in this exercise and the more backlinks that are shown from the more search engine or directories then the better the prize!
