Yes you can get traffic fast
Yesterday I wrote about the importance of staying up to date in your niche and the value in selecting and following other blogs in your chosen field to gain insight, tips and ideas. One of my favourite blogs that I highlighted in that post was the very new but very successful blog by Matt Coddington titled netbusinessblog.com. Well I thought that I would move a step further on from that quick mention and conduct a short review on this blog.
What is of particular personal interest is that Matt started this blog at roughly the same time as me but the big difference between his and mine is the enormous amount of traffic NetBusinessBlog is already generating. The high traffic that he has established in such a short space of time is nothing short of incredible. Okay it appears that he has some close friends who are A-list bloggers and no doubt provided a leg up via a link or two but the reason that he has been successful so far can be basically attributed to QUALITY CONTENT.
Take a look at the traffic figures that Matt quotes in one of his advertising posts and you will see that the figures shown are to be honest jaw-dropping. During January 2007, his start-up month, he averaged 1750 unique daily visitors. Not bad!!
Matt is also not afraid to state that he is creating a website to make money hence his main site subtitle ‘making a living online’. This is even more apparent from his use of the advertise tab right smack at the top of each page, which once selected offers readers the chance to advertise on his high traffic site. Prices for advertisers vary depending on the position and prominence of an advert e.g. Top Banner is $150 per month and $25 a month for a side bar text link. It is further evidence of the confidence in his website that enables Matt to offer advertising slots for sale at this very early stage of the new websites life.
Some of his posts that I particularly recommend are:
8 reasons why the masses love lists
Benefits of multi-paged artices
Building a niche minisite
The problem with the online earning mindset
5 blogging methods that work
I also like the use of the interactive voting polls on his site, a great tip to generate interest and get the readership involved. Recent polls have included ‘Is SEO Easy?’ and ‘What do you think of conferences?’ I particularly like Matt’s golden idea on producing a ‘top links post’ for those days when you have little time to produce your own quality content posts. The top links are summaries of other bloggers posts that have recently caught your eye, entered into a single post list. Simple but great idea which I will definitely be using in future.
I must admit as a relative newcomer to the blogosphere I was unaware of the name MyBlogLog and so was intrigued to read Matt’s informative post on the subject What the hell is MyBlogLog. Like me, you’ve probably wondered what are those mugshots that you see in the sidebar of people’s blogs. In a nutshell it’s a social bookmarking site specifically for bloggers but Matt explains it more fully in his post.
Matt has certainly given me a lot of food for thought especially in my current mindset of ‘chasing the SEO game’. Alternately Matt argues the better and more long-term virtues of social media marketing and being an active member of the blogging community and even just being friendly with other bloggers.
So if you are having one of those ‘is all this blogging effort worth it’ days, then Matt and his blog should be just the inspiration that you need. With hard work and determination (and yes perhaps a few highly connected online friends) it is possible to make a successful living online.
Overall a very, very informative blog for anyone new or nearly new to the blogging world. So don’t delay, bookmark or subscribe to NetBusinessBlog.com today.
